At Orbital, we offer a generous benefits package designed to support your physical, financial and emotional well-being. The benefits described below are typically available to regular full- and part-time (20+ hours/week) employees.
Work/Life Balance
- Holidays – 10 paid days per year
- Composite Leave – may be used for any personal reason, including vacation and illness. The accrual is as follows:
0-2 years - 15 days
2-10 years - 20 days
10-11 years - 21 days
12-13 years - 22 days
14-15 years - 23 days
16-17 years - 24 days
18 + years - 25 days
- Parental Leave – After one year of employment with Orbital, two weeks of leave are provided to women and men who become parents.
- Military Leave - Employees who are called up to active services in the U.S. Armed Forces are granted paid military leave up to nine months.
Orbital also provides bereavement leave, family and medical leave, jury duty, and military leave. The number of days granted for each type of leave varies.
Health Care
- Medical Insurance – Orbital offers several types of medical insurance plans for you and your dependents so you can choose the one that best meets your needs. Plans include both retail and mail-order prescription drug coverage.
- Dental Insurance – Our comprehensive dental PPO plan covers preventive care and many other dental procedures.
Income Protection
- Short-term Disability – 70% of salary (up to $5,000 per week) after seven days of illness, or on the first day of hospitalization.
- Long-term Disability – 60% of salary (up to $13,000 per month) after you have been continuously disabled for 180 days.
- Basic Life – Provides coverage of 1.5 times your basic annual salary to a maximum of $500,000 and a minimum of $50,000.
- Accidental Death and Dismemberment – Provides an additional 1.5 times your salary to a maximum of $500,000 and a minimum of $50,000.
- Supplemental Long-Term Disability Income Plan – Program providing additional tax-free income in the event of a long-term disability is available
- Supplemental Life – Coverage ranging from $10,000 to $500,000 is available for employees and/or spouses. Coverage for dependent children is also available.
401(k) Retirement Plan
Our 401(k) Plan can help you create a financial plan, save on a regular basis, and invest your money so it can grow and meet your future financial needs. The company matches on a dollar-for-dollar basis up to the first 5% of your pre-tax contribution. Company contributions and associated earnings vest at a rate of 33-1/3% per year of service.
Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP)
The ESPP allows you to purchase Orbital stock at a 15% discount via payroll deduction during quarterly option periods.
Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs)
FSAs enable you to “reimburse” yourself for certain types of expenses using tax-free dollars converted from payroll deductions. You may allocate up to $3,000 per year for eligible health care expenses and up to $5,000 per year for eligible dependent care expenses.
Tuition Assistance
Orbital reimburses 100% of your tuition and 50% of the cost of books for pre-approved job-related courses, up to $10,000 per year. Courses must be taken at an accredited university and a grade of “B” or better (or “pass” in a pass/fail course) must be earned.
