Emily S. Bender

Ms. Bender is Vice President of Human Resources and is responsible for all employee programs and initiatives in the areas of organizational development, recruiting, training/staff development, employee relations, compensation and benefits. Prior to her current position she served as Senior Director of Human Resources for the company. She originally joined Orbital in February, 1998 as the Senior Manager of Human Resources, providing Human Resources services to the company's business units and corporate headquarters.

Ms. Bender has over twenty years experience in the Human Resources field in a variety of industries, including hospitality, real estate, emergency response, information technology, and aerospace. Prior to joining Orbital, Ms Bender was Human Resources Director for Mnemonic Systems, Inc., a government contractor specializing in software development and systems integration for the Department of Justice. Her experience also includes developing an array of Human Resources programs for the newly-formed Marine Spill Response Corporation, a national organization dedicated to rapid emergency response in the event of a catastrophic oil spill.

Ms. Bender graduated from the University of Maryland in 1980 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Human Resources Management and Labor Relations. She is a member of the Society of Human Resources Management, the Washington Technical Professional Forum and the Virginia Employers’ Roundtable.
