Answers to frequently asked questions will be updated throughout the contract transition.

What are the Orbital benefits for Group Life Insurance, Short Term Disability and Long Term Disability?

For Orbital Employees:

  • The employee's group life insurance is company paid. All Orbital employees receive life insurance 1 1/2 times their annual salary.
  • The short-term disability is company paid. Orbital employees receive 70% of their salary when on short-term disability.
  • The long-term disability is company paid. Orbital employees receive 60% of their salary when on long-term disability.

Will the Orbital Team consider current staff members for this new contract?
Yes. Current NSROC staff members will be given first consideration for all open contract positions.

Are current NSROC staff members expected to complete an employment application to be considered for employment on the new contract?
Yes. All candidates seeking to join the Orbital NSROC II Team will be required to complete an application.

When will current NSROC staff members be able to meet the Orbital Team?
The Orbital Team looks forward to meeting current staff members in person. Open House details are available on the Schedule page.

Will Orbital retain my current benefits package?
We are working closely with our team and will be working with the incumbent team to determine in detail the similarities and differences in our respective benefits packages and to ensure that a substantially comparable benefits package will be provided to all incumbents.

Will my salary be affected by this contract transition?
It is Orbital’s intention to hire incumbent employees at their existing rates.

If I have vacation planned and approved by my current employer, will I still be able to go on my vacation?
We are fully aware that employees have lives outside of work. We are dedicated to our employees. We will work hard to respect pre-existing plans and help you maintain your prior commitments.

Will my past service on NSROC be recognized for vacation benefits?
Yes. All prior continuous service on NSROC and predecessor contracts will be recognized by Orbital in computing employee benefits.
