Intelsat 15

The Intelsat 15 satellite being manufactured for Intelsat will replace Intelsat 709 currently positioned at 85 degrees East Longitude. The high power Ku-band payload will provide video and data services for the Middle East and Indian Ocean regions as well as Russia. Intelsat 15 will produce 4.6 kW of power and feature two 2.3 meter dual-grid deployable antennas as well as one 1.4 meter dual-grid deck-mounted antenna.

Repeater: 30-for-22 redundant high power transponders
Transponder Power: 130 W – 150 W RF at saturation
Antennas: Two 2.3m deployable antennas and two 1.3m deck
mounted antennas

Stabilization: 3-axis stabilized; zero momentum system
Launch Mass: 2,550 kg (5,622 lb.)
Mission Life: 15 years (fueled for 16 years)

Status:
In development. Planned for 2009 launch.
