Intelsat New Dawn

Mission Description

The Intelsat New Dawn spacecraft, built for Intelsat and Convergence Partners, carries 16 Ku and 14 C transponders to provide voice, wireless backhaul, internet, and media applications services. Located at 32.9 degrees East Longitude, the spacecraft covers the Middle East, part of Europe, Africa and Sub-Saharan regions. Intelsat New Dawn is one of ten Orbital STAR GEO communications satellites ordered by Intelsat.

C-band
Repeater: 14 active transponders with two rings of 10-for-7 redundant TWTA's
Antenna: 2.5x2.7 m single shell super-elliptical deployable reflector

Ku-band
Repeater: 16 active transponders with two rings of 11-for-8 TWTA's
Antenna: 2.5x2.7 m single shell deployable reflector

Stabilization: 3-axis stabilized; zero momentum system
Launch Mass: < 3,000 kg (6,600 lb.) for Ariane/Soyuz
Mission Life: 15.1 years (Ariane/Soyuz)
