Consolidated Hubble Associated Mission Products/Flight Systems & Servicing Project (CHAMP)

Orbital is a subcontractor to Lockheed Martin for the operation, maintenance and servicing of the Hubble Space Telescope (HST) and has been providing this support since the 1980s. Orbital provides the space support equipment (SSE) and support services necessary to accomplish the HST servicing missions. This effort requires multidisciplinary engineering development services, including mission definition, Orbital Replacement Unit (ORU) manifest trade studies, and systems engineering and analysis.

As an integral team member on the four on-orbit HST servicing missions that have occurred to date, Orbital has provided mission management services as well as designed, developed, assembled, integrated and tested the SSE. In addition, Orbital TSD staff maintains all SSE hardware for subsequent servicing missions employing rigorous sustaining engineering.
